Vanilla Firenze is a relatively recent addition to Gucci’s prestige collection, The Alchemist’s Garden. The bottle is a stunning opaque white or ivory lacquered glass, decorated with gold accents and vintage-inspired botanical illustrations, designed to look like an antique apothecary jar.

While many vanilla scents are overly sweet or “cupcake-like,” Vanilla Firenze is a “grown-up” gourmand. It focuses on the raw, pod-like quality of Madagascar Vanilla, which is naturally woody and spicy. The “Firenze” (Florence) in the name refers to the historical richness of the city; the scent attempts to capture that grandeur through the use of Frankincense and Myrrh, which add a mysterious, smoky veil to the sweetness.
