Terre d’Hermès Eau de Toilette

Created by master perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena in 2006, Terre d’Hermès is a modern classic. It was designed to tell a story of the transformation of raw materials, specifically the dialogue between earth and water.

The scent opens with a very distinct, bitter Orange and Grapefruit combination that smells realistic and zingy, rather than sweet. The “magic” of this fragrance lies in the heart, where a unique Gunflint (Mineral) note appears, giving it a dry, metallic, and earthy quality that mimics the smell of hot rocks or rain on dry soil. The base is anchored by a sturdy Vetiver and Cedar, providing a masculine, woody foundation that lasts for 6-8 hours. It is famous for its versatility—it smells just as appropriate in a boardroom as it does on a hike. It is a sophisticated, “intellectual” scent for a man who doesn’t need to shout to be heard.
