Created by perfumer Nathalie Gracia-Cetto, Nisean is a departure from the “crowd-pleasing” sweetness found in much of the Parfums de Marly lineup. It is a tribute to the Nisean horses of antiquity, known for their grace and power.
The fragrance opens with a sharp, cold burst of Pink Pepper and Lime, though the citrus fades quickly into a heart of Geranium and Rose. However, the florals here are not “pretty”—they are dry and herbal. The true soul of Nisean lies in its base: a massive overdose of Akigalawood (a spicy, woody molecule), Saffron, and Patchouli. This creates a “leather-like” woodiness that is incredibly smooth, dry, and slightly smoky. It has a “tactile” quality, feeling almost like high-quality suede or polished dark wood.
