Pur Oud is the pinnacle of Louis Vuitton’s “Art of Perfumery.” Created by Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, it is a minimalist masterpiece designed to showcase one single ingredient: Oud Assam. It is not a “perfume” in the traditional sense of a complex blend; rather, it is an olfactive portrait of the world’s most precious wood. It is intense, animalic, and deeply woody.

The bottle features the signature minimalist glass silhouette but is distinguished by its dark, nearly opaque amber-tinted glass and a gold cap. The concentration is exceptionally high, containing a 10% concentration of pure, natural Oud oil from Assam, India.
The scent profile is linear, meaning it does not change much from the first spray to the dry down. It opens with the characteristic “barnyard” and fermented punch of genuine, high-quality Oud. As it settles, it reveals facets of Damp Earth, Ancient Wood, and a subtle Honey-like sweetness that is intrinsic to the wood itself. It is often used by collectors for “layering”—applying it as a base under other LV scents like Imagination or Rose des Vents to give them a dark, regal foundation.
